Minarchy vs Anarchy

laliberty:

For Minarchists and Classical Liberals the leap from Small Government to No Government can be a leap too far. They like what we have — that is, Government — but want less of it. They justify the coercion of taxation as being utilitarian and what must be paid to have a fair and safe society. Minarchists like Democracy. They may even support Conscription in some circumstances.

Anarcho-Capitalists essentially take the ethical position, believing that Taxation is Theft at any level, and that Government Coercion (in any form) is Slavery. AC’s take the moral and ethical position in regard to Self Ownership, that a person owns his life and the justly acquired products of that life, and that no individual or group has the right to infringe on that life, that Self Ownership. AC’s typically distrust Democracy as being just another form of coercion — but by The Majority.

In essence Minarchists take the Utilitarian road, while Anarchists take the Ethical and Moral road.

See also The Minarchist Case for Anarchism.

The major problem I have is the assertion that Anarcho-Capitalists take the ethical position, and the Ethical and Moral road. There are other ethical positions, other people taking this road, with different ideas.

xen0morph asked: The picture which I commented on is referencing slavery in America and thus black people specifically, therefore my comment references black people specifically. Although you are correct in your assertion that black people are not the only race of people on welfare, it is certainly no secret that statistically speaking black people make up the large majority of chronic social welfare recipients in this country.

I’ll try to be as clear as possible:

THE POINT => “The blacks” is a dehumanizing term which assumes all black people act within a single set of norms. <= THE POINT

xen0morph asked: Suddenly "black" isn't a good enough term for your race anymore? I doubt you'd have any problem referencing my people as "the whites". Perhaps you'd prefer I used the term your own people (and especially rappers) refer to each other by so frequently.

Have a nice day.

Talk about missing the point. “Black” is fine. I’m no more African than most American whites are European.

The problem is the definite article, and the substantive use of an adjective. I do, in fact, have a problem talking about what “the whites” do.

I’m not a black, I’m a man who is black, or a black man. We are black people. You’re not a white, you’re a man (I assume) who is white. A white man. “The blacks” and “the whites” is not only dehumanizing, it demonstrates your total lack of perspective. Do you really believe that

 1. The only people gaming and becoming dependent on the welfare system are black?
 2. That all black people (“the blacks”) are both on welfare and content to stay there?
 3. That all black people do anything at all as a bloc?

If you want to go on using terms like that, be my guest…I’ll be impressed if it has any effect on the life of anyone other than you. I just had to check to see if you were serious. I guess you were.

Sounds a lot like the modern welfare system in America to me. The blacks simply don’t want to try to make an honest life for themselves because they see the welfare system as a provider of free services, stability and security. Imagine that.

“The blacks”? Really?

Jalen Rose, Grant Hill and 'Authentic' Blackness - The Snob Blog - Danielle Belton's The Black Snob

This fight that’s not really a fight between Hill and Rose is just about wanting to be accepted for who you are. For wanting your experience to be respected as authentic. To be recognized that whether you are poor and from a single parent home or middle class and from a two parent home, your life is respected. Your family is respected. Your history is respected. You aren’t treated as you are less than what you are for being different or not having as much. You want your voice to be heard when you feel that it’s constantly being stifled. You want your story to be treated as an authentic story. This is the cry of everyone who is different, who has felt marginalized in our society, who has felt neglected or who feels their existence is always reduced to stereotype no matter what you do. We always say we’re not a monolith, yet within our ranks people push monolithic beliefs upon us, telling us we have to get into a box and if we don’t fit into that box, we aren’t real people. But we are.
